Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also sings. She was first in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Sitar Shankar is an Indian young sitar artist. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982 and began her life by hopping back and forth from London in London and New Delhi. At the age of 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Then the same year, in Encinitas CA she attended high school. She graduated with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha continues to have a bright music and acting career, even though she's only a teenager. She often joins her father in performances this she has been doing for several years. Her debut solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy-nominated Live at Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Because she has performed on all the major stages in all over the globe, her stage career has been extensive. The career of Anoushka doesn't only comprise musical performances. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which gives a special honor to her late father Ravi Shankar. She's also acted. In 2003's film Dance Like a Man, where she portrayed an Bharat natyam dancing young girl. Anoushka continues to grow on her path and will surely be more things to come from this talented woman. Anoushka Shankar is a British born singer who travelled her early years between London, Delhi and California. Anoushka Shankar started her musical studies at age nine. After four years, she made her sitar debut in Delhi for her father's 70th birthday celebration. Anoushka's father toured around across the world with her and she also gained a variety of experience. When she was still at her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. She was the only female to receive the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her talent and musical ability as an outstanding musician from in the Asian Arts.
